I'm pretty excited to be featured on 52 Critical Painters this week. Click on over to see Kevin Smith's ongoing project that focuses on contemporary painters as well as his own experimental work. You can also find him on Instagram: @kevvvinsmith.
My upcoming show, Temporary Fun, is set to open on August 1st at Augen Gallery. I'll be showing a selection of Lightning and Decorative Object paintings. Shown above is Tempest (Mild Mannered) from 2019.
Also, I was interviewed by Kendra and Ashley Larson on Artgab earlier this summer. You can find the podcast at stumptowncreative.com/art-gab. I'm on episode 5.
What Develops opens on Friday the 13th at the Floating Gallery on Hayden Island. The show is curated by Percy Wise and features work by me, Brenna Murphy (the two stacked prints second in the above image), and David Trowbridge.
For me, this show will showcase work from the Shelter series (above), the Nesting Zigzags series and the Repose series. These paintings are meant to suggest human proportions and hint at gravity, two themes that I have worked with for several years. The show will be up through July 27th and you can contact me for a private viewing if you missed the opening: email@example.com

I'm excited to be in a group show with Brenna Murphy and David Trowbridge this summer. What Develops (curated by Percy Wise) will open on July 13th at The Floating Gallery on Hayden Island in Portland, OR. You can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or Percy at email@example.com for directions.
"Just Like This For A Little While" will be shown at the Umpqua Valley Arts Association in Roseburg, Oregon through June 24th. Thank you to Andries Fourie for including my work in the show.
I recently had the chance to visit the studio of Portland artist Doug Davidovich. Doug and I first met in 1995 while we were both enrolled in the American University MFA program and I've been a fan of his work ever since. I respond to his spare, modern compositions, his nuanced surfaces, and the way he suddenly shifts the space of his shapes (see the recent "Citadel" series). He also has cold beer in his studio mini-fridge, which is also good.
You can see more of his work at davidovichstudio.com
Please join me for the opening of "Just Like This For A Little While," my show of recent paintings. The opening will be at Oranj Studio on July 8th from 5-7 pm. The show will continue to run through August.
Location: 0726 SW Gaines Street Portland, OR 97239
I hope to see you there.
I'm thrilled that "Echo" (oil on canvas, 30" x 30", 2015) will be included in the Chautauqua 60th Annual Exhibition of Contemporary Art.
